Camp Out for Hunger 2021

Endless Pools raised awareness with a swim-a-thon and donated US$15,000

They came to swim and to lend a hand. Student athletes, triathletes, and Masters swimmers from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan area joined Endless Pools employees and pool owners. The goal: to swim 82 miles in our Performance pool to help fight hunger.

Triathletes and Masters swimmers came out to test their abilities against the constant current of our Performance pool. They brought not just their skill and determination, but non-perishable food to help Philabundance fight hunger over the coming winter season.

The event was the Camp Out for Hunger. For 24 years, Hall-of-Fame radio personalities Preston and Steve have hosted the fundraiser for Philabundance, the largest hunger-relief organization in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. Broadcast live on commercial radio station 93.3 WMMR-FM, the event featured music, interviews, food donations, and periodic check-ins with Team Endless Pools.

When we reached 82 miles on the last day of the weeklong event, we donated US$15,000 to Philabundance as part of our ongoing Endless Access program. The goal was based on our "Wells to Shells" challenge, swimming the distance from the event site, Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center, to popular summer destination Cape May, New Jersey.

On Wednesday, a few members of the Villanova University Swimming Team racked up a lot of miles toward our 82-mile goal. One of them swam for an hour and 40 minutes in two sessions! The swimmers loved being in our 88-degree water on that brisk autumn morning.

The Performance pool is Endless Pools' most popular upgrade. It has a smoother, larger, more adjustable current than our Original pool. Dipping into its warm waters on the chilly autumn days of the event were members of the Villanova Swim Team, French Creek Racing, November Project PHL, T3 Philly, and Bucks County Tri Club.

This year's Camp Out for Hunger delivered over US$1,000,000 and 2.3 million pounds of non-perishable food to Philabundance. It's a much-needed boost to help our community members in need before the holiday season and the long winter ahead.

WMMR's Casey Boy powered through the last leg of our 82-mile swim! Endless Pools then presented him with our US$15,000 check for Philabundance, the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan area's largest hunger-relief organization. In 2020, Philabundance and its member agencies distributed over 55 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need.
